Terma, or ‘treasure texts,’ are said to have been hidden by Guru Rinpoche and Yeshe Tsogyal only to be later revealed by Tertons, or ‘treasure revealers’ such as Chokgyur Lingpa, Dudjom Lingpa, and Jamgön Kongtrul Lödro Taye. To this day, the Nyingma tradition emphasizes the terma tradition as the primary channel for their scriptural tradition.
